Practicing yoga since 1998, Katie started teaching yoga in 2007 and has since trained in multiple styles of yoga and bodywork. Katie thanks Kundalini yoga for teaching her discipline, Thai Massage for teaching her patience, and Prajna yoga for teaching her humility. Currently, Katie focuses both her teaching and her self-practice on restorative yoga, mindfulness meditation, and alignment-based hatha. She loves the fusion of yoga and social justice, and discussing the importance of cultural awareness amongst yoga teachers.
 
In addition to her 2000+ hours of yoga trainings, Katie works as a family nurse practitioner at a Medicaid clinic in Nevada and as a nurse midwife in a free-standing birth center in California. With a strong background in international aide, Katie is grateful for the 13 years has she spent in the US, Africa and Latin America utilizing both her Eastern and Western skillsets to offer holistic approaches to medicine, when appropriate. She is also an associate professor for the schools of Medicine and Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno and mentors students regularly.
 
Katie is eternally grateful to her teachers: Tias & Surya Little, Elizabeth Greathouse, and the thousands of patients, students and colleagues she's had the honor of serving along the way.
